If you start using that shotgun as a breaching tool, opening hatches, creating murderholes, creating lines of sight through floor and ceiling, it makes her a much more effective roamer by giving her almost absolute control over the map. It's true the pistol is generally a much better close-range alternative than the shotgun, but if you stop thinking about the shotgun as a weapon, it still has a LOT of utility a roamer can benefit heavily from. If you play her as well make sure to get a val that will work with you. It would be better to have a long range weapon instead. Also please never use her shottie since it's practically useless when she has her pistol that downs someone in 2 shots close range.
